Nahawal Watan is a platform for political change and socio-economic renewal. We are a community of independent Lebanese patriots with diverse backgrounds and age groups who believe that the way for a prosperous and stable future for Lebanon is to drive political change by enabling the emergence of new political leaders, fully committed to serving the national interest.

We strive to enable the emergence of independent-minded political leaders because we believe that this will form the basis of positive political change in Lebanon. Our end goal is a democratic, sovereign, and prosperous nation for future generations.

We see national elections as the entry point for changing the political narrative. This is why we are singularly focused on parliamentary elections. We strive to organize political opposition by facilitating the formation of viable joint electoral lists. We also believe that political change cannot be achieved without a mobilized electorate; hence why we also work hard to increase the voter turnout in Lebanon and abroad and this is where the Lebanese diaspora plays a pivotal role.

We have a steering committee, a team of professionals dedicated to executing our mission and city committees in several countries around the world.

- The steering committee leads on the strategy and consists of a group of women and men of different ages and backgrounds with extensive experience in their fields

- A dedicated team of 50 people with expertise in election management, statistics, training, media, finance, communication with groups, sectors and regions

We have a rigorous and well-structured organization with experts in all fields and clearly assigned roles and responsibilities. We also focus on the highest standards of transparency on all levels: funding, operational standards, objectives, relationships and alliances.

We are not seeking benefits from political parties and we are a platform to support the emergence of new political leaders. To that effect, all members of the Steering Committee have signed a pledge not to run for the upcoming elections.

No, NAW will not directly fund political parties. We will provide vetted electoral lists and candidates with technical electoral expertise, media, and social media exposure, access to our diaspora network, and support from our e-day electoral machine. 

In addition to the Steering committee that sets the strategy and controls its implementation, we also have a dedicated team working daily on putting in place an electoral machine to support the change movement with expertise in election management, statistics, training, media, finance, communication with groups, sectors and regions.

NAW has developed a robust financial framework to ensure transparency about finances including the nature of our funding and the disbursements we deploy. All our budgets will be audited by an external auditor and published on a semi-annual basis on the website. All funders above $5,000 will go through a KYC (Know Your Customer) process as well as a vetting procedure with an external ethics and vetting organization that operates at arms’ length.

No, we do not accept such donations. Our donor criteria from the start have been as follows:

• only from Lebanese citizens
• no institutional donations
• no donations from politically affiliated individuals
• individual contributions cannot exceed more than 10% of our annual budget

NAW is focused on, and works with, all regions and districts across Lebanon; one of our core beliefs is a non-sectarian system and the protection of all communities. With that in mind, we aim to field as many candidates to as many seats across the country as possible.

Our process for eventual candidate selection which we will support will be based on an effort to form one main opposition list made up of candidates who have the greatest chance of success in their respective districts. We aim to agree on such a decision-making process with opposition parties, groups, and candidates in advance and the ultimate selection will be informed by data from polling and survey results in each region.

Our candidate selection criteria includes (but not limited to):
● Upholding a vision for a non-sectarian system of government
● Clear of any suspicion of corruption or misconduct
● Committed to equality among all citizens
● Clear distanciation from any political party in power
● Willing to abide by a, agreed code of conduct which will include a conflict of interest clause
● Committed to an agreed political and economic program

We provided support during the Syndicate of Engineers' elections through our electoral infrastructure and we will continue supporting independent candidates in future elections of the other syndicates.

There are continuous discussions with the transformative forces, including individuals, groups and emerging parties, and there is a great response from everyone around the need of coalescing. We are playing a facilitating role and the coalition will be announced later.

No, we will not ally with the 6 traditional parties and their affiliates.

We pledge that none of the steering committee members will run for public office during the 2022 elections.

Our goal is to drive political change by enabling the emergence of new political leaders, fully committed to serving the national interest. October 17 is a turning point in Lebanon’s history. For the first time, people's psychological barriers and fear have fallen. This is the first opportunity to take Lebanon in the direction we want. This is the first step in the path of changing the country. We have to lay the foundations and rules, and if the people want change, they can have the majority in the parliament and even more. The people will decide the number of the "representatives of change".

We believe that the chances for success are high. Surveys that we have conducted clearly demonstrate that around 60% of Lebanese want to change the current corrupt political class.
